Follow The Oak Road, wherever it may lay…

Every year, bugs from all walks of life make The Pilgrimage in hopes of seeing The Monarch. It's said that any bug able to survive the journey to the peak of Mount Kaefer is magically granted a single wish. The path, known as The Oak Road, is winding, strange, and full of dangers.

Which is exactly why Titan has never even dreamed of being a Pilgrim. However, the Monarch has other plans. A big beetle from a small village, Titan must brave the elements, giant creatures, and perhaps worst of all: his own doubt. Luckily he meets some world-wise bugs to help him along the way.

Monarch: Titansong is a tale of friendship and adventure for young readers (and readers young at heart), who love books such as "James and the Giant Peach", "Redwall", and "Mrs. Frisby and The Rats of NIMH".

Titansong is an all ages fantasy adventure book written by Clinton W. Waters.  It follows Titan the beetle on his journey to see The Monarch and make a wish for peace.

and his traveling companions

Titan

The Fearful Hero

Titan is the titular main character of Titansong. When we first meet Titan he's just a grub. He has a run-in with the giants known as humans, and even worse, they cast a spell on him that makes him grow faster and bigger than the rest of his siblings.

Titan grows into a bit of a scaredybug. He's done his best to avoid trouble and lay low in his village of Ochre Orchard. Not the easiest thing to do when he's been "touched by the magic of men". His siblings, aunts, and uncles all distrust him.

This isn't helped by the fact he has been chosen as this year's Pilgrim to go see the Monarch, a process usually decided by contest (one Titan avoids at all costs). Despite his growing sense of dread, he must travel The Oak Road and make a wish for peace to The Monarch. Otherwise, the world he's known is doomed to crack and the four factions will fall into senseless war.

Tausend

The Long Con

Tausend the centipede is the first of Titan's two traveling companions. When we meet Tausend, he's traveling the road to Oakland, the capitol city of the four bug factions.

He swoops in to rescue Titan from an encounter with one of the dangerous creatures that roam the wilderness. World-wise (and crafty) Tausend agrees to help Titan on his journey. Purely out of the kindness of his heart, no doubt.

Gardenia

The Smooth Operator

Gardenia is the third and final member of Team Titan (The Titan Three?). Much like Tausend, she's a bug that knows a thing or two about how the world works. She has even faced off against humans, and has the trophies to show for it.

When we first meet Gardenia, she is laying low in Oaksend, waiting to strike Tausend should he appear. They have history, it's a whole thing. Seeing how strong she is, Titan asks her to join his quest. When she finds out Titan has also had an encounter with humans, she feels their fates are intertwined.
