Vivisection & Other Poems contains a decade of poetry from Clinton W. Waters, author of Futures Gleaming Darkly. Spanning his late teen years, throughout his time as an undergrad student at Western Kentucky University, up until the present, this collection is a roadmap of self-discovery. Waters explores his personal experiences with life, love, loss, mental illness and sexuality.

Vivisection is an LGBT+ poetry collection book written by Clinton W. Waters.  It contains 50 different poems written throughout a decade of the writer's life, dealing with themes such as sexuality, death, grief, and identity.

If you were to
split me apart,
cleave me in two
with your hatchet tongue,

what might spill out?
An insatiable wanderlust.
Blood rusting in veins.
Traffic lanes to be crossed,
feelings to be feigned
​
in some far off forest...

She was born with her heart
on her sleeve.  Bulls-eye red,
her mother said,
the better for others to take aim.

So she painted it blue.
The sun slinks toward
the horizon like a
one-night stand
hoping not to wake her...

...to bellows breathing below sickly ships.
It rises, phantom floating man-o-wars,
askew in tides, in waves it makes, induced
with giddy, hopeful, muffled voices lost

in sheets and showers, hotel rooms and pools.
